Tony Bono, Executive Vice President and Co-Owner of Chenail Import-Export, takes a new step in his career as he assumes the role of Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Association québécoise de la distribution des fruits et légumes (AQDFL) starting January 1, 2025. Recognized for his exceptional career path and unwavering commitment to the agri-food industry, Tony Bono embodies the values of collaboration, innovation, and humanism at the core of AQDFL.

From his humble beginnings at Jean-Talon Market, where he grew up working in the family business, to leading one of Quebec’s largest fruit and vegetable importers, Tony Bono has always been driven by a passion for quality work and strong human connections. “Employees are the soul of our company. Understanding their stories and realities allows us to build a respectful and inclusive work environment,” he explains.

With over 150 employees from diverse backgrounds, Chenail Import-Export reflects the diversity and innovation that define Quebec’s food distribution industry. Under Tony Bono’s leadership, AQDFL will benefit from a strong leader dedicated to strengthening industry connections and encouraging new players, such as local fruit markets, to join the association.

Tony Bono is also deeply involved in the J’aime les fruits et légumes initiative, promoting healthy eating habits among Quebecers. “This is a collective effort that creates a positive domino effect across the entire supply chain,” he emphasizes.

For several years now, Tony Bono has been passing on his entrepreneurial legacy to the next generation. His sons, Francesco and Antony Bono, are both actively involved at Chenail and embody this succession with dedication. Francesco, newly a father to little Stella, is now continuing the transmission of family values in his own way.
